22 Farmers  Suicide in Yavatmal  in January- Central Government's failed to address Agrarin Crisis  - Kishore Tiwari

While India's Finance Minister, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, was presenting the budget for 2026-27,  in her bid to make India a world leader and the largest economy, the Yavatmal district administration was releasing information to the media about the suicides of farmers affected by drought and crop failure . Kishore Tiwari, an activist who has been continuously working on the serious issue of farmer suicides and the agricultural crisis for the past 30 years, 

The Names of the 22 farmers Who  committed suicide are as follows:

1) Vilas Junghare, Sasani, Ghatanji Taluka , 2) Prashant Gudhe, Parsoda, Arni Taluka , 3) Dheeraj Samrutwar, Susari, Kelapur Taluka ,4) Sachin Marskolhe, Shibla, Zari Taluka , 5) Prakash Kusram, Ghoti, Ghatanji Taluka , 6) Nitin Deshmukh, Shirpur, Mahagaon Taluka , 7) Mahadev Lavre, Mangkinhi, Darwha Taluka , 8) Sharad Deshmukh, Bhambkheda, Umarkhed Taluka , 9) Shridhar Waraskar, Ganeshpur, Zari Taluka , 10) Maroti Turankar, Bhendala, Zari Taluka , 11) Gajanan Hemne, Malapur, Babhulgaon Taluka , 12) Gopal Ghonge, Mustabad, Babhulgaon , 13) Mahendra Ladke, Chowki Jhuli, Yavatmal Taluka ,14)  Sandeep Rathod, Rui Talav, Digras , 15) Prakash Bhujade, Mal Hiwra, Digras Taluka , 16) Kisan Wasnik, Dehani, Babhulgaon Taluka , 17) Sunil Chavan, Loni, Yavatmal Taluka , 18) Nitin Phulzhale, Pimpri Kalga, Ner Taluka , 19) Vaibhav Shirbhate, Kotha, Kalamb , 20) Mahadev Dhage, Rui Mothi, Digras Taluka , 21) Pravin Wagde, Jagjai, Ralegaon Taluka , 22) Shahu Rathod, Khaigaon Bujruk, Kelapur Taluka,

In addition to these 22 farmers, there are 10 tenant farmers who also committed suicide, but since the land records (7/12 extract) are not in their names, these suicides are not officially recorded as farmer suicides by the government. 

NDA Govt. failed to address the on going Agrarian Crisis

West Vidarbha is mainly cotton and soyabean growing regioan where farmers suicides is being reported since 1998 and all packes issued by UPA and NDA govt. failed to address the core issues of agrarian crisis v.i.z.  input cost reduction,providing irrigation facilities in dryland region,soil health restoretion,reformes in munimum support price,villagebase storage and processing facilities ,Govt.intervention in procurenent at MSP .Long term credit policy in place of frequent loan waivers ,proper incentive for crop diverstion from cash crop to food millets and pluses crops,farm activist Kishore Tiwari urged .
